DraftAgent Documentation
Everything you need to connect DraftAgent to your AI agent workflow, from installation to your first DOCX inspection, document transformation, and rendered output.
Installation
DraftAgent currently supports macOS only.
Install DraftAgent with the macOS installer:
curl -fsSL https://example.com/draftagent/install.sh | sh
The installer URL is a placeholder for now and will be replaced with the production download URL.
MCP compatibility
DraftAgent supports MCP version 2026-07-28. It runs as a local MCP server over standard input and output, so MCP clients can launch it as a command-line process.
Configure Claude Desktop
On macOS, open Claude Desktop’s configuration file at ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json and add DraftAgent under mcpServers:
{
"mcpServers": {
"draftagent": {
"command": "draftagent-mcp",
"env": {
"DRAFTAGENT_DOCUMENTS_DIRECTORY": "/path/to/documents"
}
}
}
}
Replace /path/to/documents with an existing directory that DraftAgent can use as its workspace, then restart Claude Desktop.
Configure Goose
Add DraftAgent to Goose’s configuration file at ~/.config/goose/config.yaml:
extensions:
draftagent:
bundled: false
enabled: true
name: draftagent
type: stdio
cmd: draftagent-mcp
args: []
envs:
DRAFTAGENT_DOCUMENTS_DIRECTORY: /path/to/documents
Replace /path/to/documents with an existing workspace directory, then restart Goose or reload its extensions.
After installation, continue with the MCP server guide for the MCP tools and document operations.
